Assembly Polls 2025: Vote-counting underway
New Delhi: Counting on votes for eight Assembly seats across six states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir bypolls is underway. Voting for the seats was held on 11 November.
The bye-elections were held to fill vacancies in constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram, and Odisha.
The BJP is having a substantial leads in two seats. In Nuapada, Odisha where the BJP's Jay Dholakia is leading by a margin of over 33000 votes. Similarly, in Nagrota, J&K, BJP's Devyani Rana is far ahead and is leading by over 24500 votes.
The Congress party is leading in Telangana's Jubilee Hills, Congress candidate Naveen Yadav holds a lead of over 9500 votes. In Rajasthan's Anta, Pramod Jain of the Congress is also ahead of over 7200 votes.
In addition, regional parties are firmly leading in four constituencies. JMM's Somesh Chandra Soren has established a solid lead of 7,414 votes in Jharkhand's Ghatsila. The AAP's Harmeet Singh Sandhu is ahead in Punjab's Tarn Taran by 7,294 votes, while the PDP's Muntazir Mehdi leads in J&K's Budgam by 1,521 votes.
A result has been declared in Mizoram, where the Mizo National Front (MNF) has got a victory. Dr. R Lalthangliana of the MNF won the Dampa bypoll by a margin of 562 votes beating his rivals of Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), Congress, and the BJP.
