Bihar NEET Protest Case: Students Claim Wrongful FIRs, Man Says He Was in Russia When Named

Two Bihar students have claimed they were wrongly named in a NEET protest case. One said he was in Russia, while another claimed he was appearing for an exam away from the protest site.

Patna:  In a buzzing controversy in Bihar's Kishanganj district, several students alleged that they were wrongly named in police cases linked to protests over the NEET paper leak.

The allegations surfaced after one individual claimed he was in Russia at the time of the protest and another said he was appearing for an examination in a different town several kilometres away.

These allegations have now put into question the method followed by authorities in naming people as accused in the case.

Student Says His Name Mentioned Despite Him Being in Russia

Mohammad Sadaqat, a student hailing from Kishanganj, says in a viral video clip that his name was included in an FIR which was related to NEET protests in Bihar despite him being in Russia since the past four months.

Sadaqat, who says that he wasn't even at the protest in LRP Chowk, Bahadurganj on July 24, has asked the authorities to cross-check his presence there and delete his name from the case if he was indeed found right.

Another Person Says He Was At The Examination Center

In another case, one person from the same district named Adnan Amini stated that he was not one of those who had gone for the protest because he was appearing for a D.El.Ed examination in Kishanganj Girls' High School which is situated about 20 kilometers away from where the protest took place.

According to him, his examination admit card along with the CCTV footage from the examination center could act as evidence of his being there.

Ongoing Investigation

Kishanganj Superintendent of Police Hari Mohan Shukla said that anyone with grievances regarding the case could come forward and approach the police for further clarification or rectification. However, officials have so far neither confirmed nor rejected the allegations raised by the students.

SDPO Khusru Siraj stated that the names included in the case were based on available inputs, including video evidence, information provided by local residents, and reports from officials. He added that further action would be taken according to the findings of the ongoing investigation.
