Samba: A drone was reportedly seen hovering over several villages in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district on Friday evening, triggering concern among residents and prompting security agencies to begin a verification exercise.

According to sources, a resident from Kandral village alerted officials at Police Station Ramgarh after noticing the unmanned aerial object flying over the area.

Villagers Report Brief Appearance

Locals said the drone was spotted above the villages of Kandral, Abtal and Bahadurpur in the Ramgarh sector. Witnesses reported that the object remained visible in the sky for approximately two to three minutes before disappearing.

The unexpected sighting created panic among villagers, many of whom immediately contacted the police to report the incident.

Security Forces Launch Verification

Following the alert, police teams and other security agencies were mobilised to the area to verify the information. Officials said the matter has been taken seriously and further inquiries have been initiated to determine the origin and purpose of the drone.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the drone crossed from across the border or was operating within Indian territory.

Surveillance Intensified in Border Belt

Officials said security forces have stepped up monitoring and area checks following the report. Patrols and observation in vulnerable locations have been increased as a precautionary measure while agencies continue to gather information about the aerial object.

The Ramgarh sector in Samba district lies close to the International Border and remains a sensitive zone from a security perspective.
