Robot Scares 70-Year-Old Woman in Macau, Police Intervene
New Delhi: In the world, humans are often prosecuted for intimidation, threats, or assault. However, if a robot is accused of such an act and is taken into police custody, it certainly sounds strange. A shocking incident has emerged from Macau, a special administrative region in China, where police detained a humanoid robot for allegedly intimidating an elderly woman. A video of this incident is rapidly going viral on social media.
According to reports, this incident occurred last week on a street in Macau. A woman in her 70s suddenly became frightened after encountering a small humanoid robot. The robot reportedly stood about 4 feet 4 inches tall. The woman was so frightened that she had to be taken to the hospital, where doctors examined her and later discharged her.
According to media reports, the woman was busy with her mobile phone while walking on the street when she realized something was following her. When she looked back, she saw a robot. Suddenly, she became frightened by the robot's appearance and began yelling at it.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman angrily told the robot, "You're making my heart beat faster! Have you gone crazy?" The viral video also shows the robot raising both its hands as the woman scolded it.
After receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and removed the robot and took it away. In the video, two police officers can be seen removing the robot from the road. However, there was no physical contact between the woman and the robot.
The investigation revealed that the robot belonged to an education center in the area and was being used for promotional activities. A man in his 50s was operating it remotely via remote control. He told police that he was testing the robot's operation.
Police issued a stern warning to the robot's owner, warning him to exercise utmost care over pedestrian safety when conducting such experiments. Officers released the robot with a warning to avoid threatening or endangering anyone in the future.
This incident has sparked a new debate about the increasing interaction between technology and humans. Many are questioning who will be held accountable if robots continue to harass people in this manner.
