New Delhi: The second lunar eclipse of the year 2025 will take place on September 7. According to scientists, when the Sun, Earth and Moon come in a straight line and the sunlight does not fall on the Moon due to the Earth. This phenomenon is called a lunar eclipse. This eclipse on the night of 7 and 8 September will be a total lunar eclipse and will occur on the full moon date of the month of Bhadrapada. The second lunar eclipse of the year will start at 9:58 pm on September 7 and will last till 1:26 pm on September 8. This lunar eclipse will also be visible in India. Along with this, this lunar eclipse can be seen in many parts of Asia, Australia, New Zealand and America.

The Earth revolves around the Sun. The Moon is a satellite, which revolves around the Earth. During this, when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, the sunlight does not reach the Moon. Due to this, the shadow of the Earth falls on the Moon. This astronomical phenomenon is called a lunar eclipse. This astronomical event occurs on the full moon day. According to the Hindu calendar, the full moon falls on the last date of the Shukla Paksha of every month.

Lunar eclipses occur only on full moon days. The moon takes only 29.5 days to revolve around the Earth and complete a cycle from one full moon to the next. However, on an average, only three lunar eclipses occur in a year. This is because the moon's orbit around the Earth is not flat. It is at an angle of about five degrees. This means that the moon often goes above or below the Earth's shadow.
