Coronavirus raising concern again (Source: Internet)
New Delhi: For the last five years, the Corona virus has been returning as a new wave every few months. Due to changing variants and mutations, scientists and health organizations around the world are maintaining vigilance. During the summer of 2025, a sudden increase in Corona cases was seen in several countries including India, which once again created a wave of concern.
Between 22 May and 15 June, the number of active cases of Corona in India had increased to over 7400. However, there has been a decline in them for the last few days. According to the Kovid Dashboard of the Ministry of Health on June 22, the number of active cases has come down to 4754. This is definitely a matter of relief, but in view of the new forms of infection, any kind of negligence can be harmful.
Investigation of recent cases has revealed that sub-variants like NB.1.8.1 (Nimbus) and XFG (Stratus) are mainly responsible for this new wave of corona. Scientists have found that some new mutations have been seen in these variants, which can make them more infectious than before. Keeping these potential dangers in mind, the World Health Organization (WHO) has now classified NB.1.8.1 as 'Variant of Monitoring'.

WHO declaring a variant as 'Variant of Monitoring' means that it is a form of the virus that needs to be monitored carefully. Its effect may not be serious at the moment, but its infectiousness, effect and speed of mutation are being constantly studied by scientists. Earlier it was placed in the category of 'Variant of Interest'.

According to experts, mutations have been observed in all these variants which have the ability to spread the infection rapidly. Although no significant increase in serious illness or mortality has been recorded from them so far, health experts are still keeping a close watch on them.
