New Delhi: The air pollution crisis in Delhi appears to be worsening once again. According to the latest report from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in most areas of the capital has been recorded in the "severe" category. In several areas, including Rohini, Mundka, and Bawana, the AQI has reached above 400, which is considered extremely harmful to health. Experts say that toxic particles present in the air at this level can cause respiratory diseases, eye irritation, sore throat, and have serious effects on the lungs.

AQI Recorded in Delhi Areas

According to the CPCB, the situation was extremely poor this morning in various areas of the capital. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 416, Ashok Vihar 412, Aya Nagar 343, Bawana 431, and Burari 404. Additionally, DTU recorded an AQI of 417, Dwarka 369, ITO 381, Jahangirpuri 433, Mundka 434, Najafgarh 353, Punjabi Bagh 381, and Rohini 423. Meanwhile, RK Puram recorded 402, and Wazirpur reached the highest of 442.

Smog blankets India Gate and Kartavya Path

A thick layer of toxic smog enveloped the areas around India Gate and Kartavya Path this morning. According to the CPCB, the AQI here was recorded at 331, which falls in the 'very poor' category. People out for morning walks and outside in this area faced both smog and pollution.

Air quality deteriorates in Ghaziabad

Air quality has also deteriorated in Ghaziabad, adjacent to Delhi. The AQI was recorded at 413 in Indirapuram, 470 in Loni, 443 in Sanjay Nagar, and 398 in Vasundhara. Experts have warned that at this level, the air becomes extremely toxic and can be especially dangerous for children and the elderly.

AQI above 400 in many areas of Noida

Pollution levels in Noida also remain dangerous. Sector 125 recorded an AQI of 438, Sector 62 334, Sector 1 399, and Sector 116 430, clearly indicating that Noida's air quality is also very poor.

The situation is also worrying in Gurugram and Faridabad.

The AQI at NISE Gwal Pahari in Gurugram was recorded at 321, Sector 51 354, Teri Gram 228, and Vikas Sadan 270, falling between the 'moderate' and 'very poor' categories. In Faridabad, Sectors 30 and 11 recorded an AQI of 214, and New Industrial Town recorded 296.

What do the AQI standards indicate?

The AQI is divided into six categories:

Good (0-50)

Satisfactory (51-100)

Moderate (101-200)

Poor (201-300)

Very Poor (301-400)

Severe (401-500)

According to these standards, most areas of Delhi-NCR are currently in the 'severe' category, which is considered extremely dangerous for everyone's health.
