Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav questions on Women's Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha
New Delhi: On Thursday, during the discussion on the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, the atmosphere in the House became intensely charged with political tension. Dimple Yadav, the Samajwadi Party MP from Mainpuri, adopted a sharp and forthright style to corner the central BJP government, raising several serious questions. Her statement further intensified the debate between the ruling party and the opposition.
Major Demand Raised Regarding Share in Women's Reservation
Speaking in the Lok Sabha on April 17, 2026, and presenting her views on the Women's Reservation Bill, Dimple Yadav asserted that if the government truly advocates for social justice, the benefits of reservation must reach all sections of society. She explicitly demanded a separate quota for women belonging to OBC and minority communities. Dimple Yadav argued that had the government already incorporated this provision through an amendment earlier, the weaker sections of society would have secured greater representation.
Takes Aim at the BJP Government
In her address, the SP MP launched a direct attack on the central government, stating that while efforts are being made under the current dispensation to cling to power, the poor, Dalits, and backward classes are being denied their rightful entitlements. She alleged that the government's policies do not align with the principles of social justice, and that adequate importance is not being accorded to the participation of weaker sections.
Also Corners Government on Terrorism and Security Issues
In her speech, Dimple Yadav also took aim at the government regarding issues of security and terrorism. She pointed out that several major terrorist incidents have occurred in the country during the tenure of the current government, citing specific events such as those in Pulwama and Pahalgam. Furthermore, while referencing Naxal-related incidents and the martyrdom of soldiers, she asserted that the government needs to demonstrate greater seriousness regarding the nation's security apparatus.
