US President Donald Trump has expressed gratitude to India after Hyderabad became the site of a special recognition with the naming of a road as “Donald Trump Avenue”. The former US President shared his appreciation through a post on Truth Social, calling the honour a first for a US President.

Trump posted an image of US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka unveiling a ceremonial plaque. He thanked India for the gesture and highlighted the significance of the road being named after him.

Ceremony Highlights Growing India-US Partnership

The ceremonial unveiling took place during the “Freedom 250” event held in Hyderabad to mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence. The occasion brought together diplomats, government representatives, and leaders from business, technology, aerospace, and defence sectors.

The event was led by US Ambassador Sergio Gor and Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams were also present.

During his address, Gor spoke about Hyderabad’s expanding role in strengthening India-US relations. He pointed to the city’s technology hubs, aerospace sector, and defence industries as key areas driving cooperation between the two nations.

Telangana’s Initiative to Honour Global Icons

The Telangana government said the special road designation reflects Hyderabad’s increasing importance as a centre for innovation and international engagement. The move is part of a larger plan to rename important roads after globally recognised personalities and organisations.

The proposal to rename the road near the US Consulate was announced earlier by the Revanth Reddy-led government as part of efforts to promote the state’s global identity.

More Roads Set for Recognition

Along with Donald Trump Avenue, Telangana has announced plans to honour other major figures and institutions. An upcoming greenfield radial road near the proposed Regional Ring Road is expected to be named after industrialist Ratan Tata.

The state has also planned a “Google Street” near Google’s upcoming campus in Hyderabad’s Financial District, recognising the company’s global influence and contribution to technology.

The developments reflect Telangana’s efforts to strengthen its international image and attract further investment and collaboration.
