New Delhi: Voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections began today, 18 September amid tight security. Over 600 police personnel, including 160 equipped with body cameras have been deployed to prevent any disruption and ensure peaceful polling.
This year, a total of 21 candidates are contesting after the scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations. As per the official notification, polling is being conducted in two shifts: 8:30 am to 1 pm for day classes and from 3 pm to 7:30 pm for evening classes. Key contenders for the President
1- Joslyn Nandita Choudhary (NSUI): Postgraduate in Buddhist Studies.
2- Anjali (SFI-AISA): Student of Indraprastha College for Women.
3- Aryan Maan (ABVP): MA Library Science student.
Each group has promised reforms, inclusivity, and student welfare in their manifestos.
First-year students are eligible to vote with a valid fee receipt and one government-issued ID (Voter ID, Aadhaar, PAN, or Driving License) if their college ID is not yet issued.

Second and third-year students are required to carry a valid college identity card to vote in DUSU elections.
Eligibility cut-off: It is to be noted that candidates enrolled to DU colleges or departments before September 9, 2025 are considered as eligible voters.
The university has also issued an advisory to regulate vehicles and campus movement for both September 18 and 19. As per the directions, parking will be allowed only at gate number 1 for vehicles with authorised university stickers, while gate 4 will remain closed on both days.
Traffic restrictions will also be imposed on Chhatra Marg, Probyn Road, and University Road during polling hours to ensure smooth movement and crowd management.
Additionally, on counting day GC Narang Marg and Cavalry Lane will remain completely closed for traffic.
