New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is currently addressing a press conference at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. During the briefing, the Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in five key states.
The elections will be held in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. With the announcement, political activity across the country has intensified as parties gear up for the high-stakes polls.
The Election Commission of India has officially released the detailed schedule for the Assembly elections in the five regions. According to the commission, polling will take place during April and May, while the counting of votes is expected in early May.
Kerala: April 9
Assam: April 9
Puducherry: April 9
Tamil Nadu: April 23
West Bengal: April 23 and April 29
Results will be announced on May 4.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar appealed to youth to actively participate in democracy during a press conference. He stated that the most important responsibility facing youth now is the right to vote. He urged them to use their vote with pride and responsibility.
The CEC said, "Your vote is your voice. Use it responsibly. Election Festival is a matter of pride for all of us." He also emphasized that youth participation is crucial in strengthening democracy.
During the press conference, the Election Commission also shared key data related to the upcoming assembly elections. A large number of voters are expected to participate in these elections, which will be held in four states and one union territory.
Key figures are as follows:
Total Voters: Approximately 174 million
Total Assembly Seats: 824
Total Polling Stations: Approximately 2.19 lakh
Total Polling Officers: Approximately 2.5 million
These figures clearly indicate that the Election Commission is making extensive preparations to ensure the successful completion of this massive democratic process.
A total of 824 Assembly seats will go to polls across five states and one Union Territory. The seat distribution is as follows:
West Bengal: 294 seats
Tamil Nadu: 234 seats
Assam: 126 seats
Kerala: 140 seats
Puducherry: 30 seats
