New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday announced a series of important measures for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled to be held on June 21. The announcements come after the cancellation of the earlier examination following allegations of irregularities and paper leaks.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the minister said the government’s priority is to restore confidence among students and ensure a fair and transparent examination process.

One of the biggest announcements made by the Education Minister was that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will move to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from next year.
The transition is aimed at strengthening examination security and reducing the chances of paper leaks and malpractice. At present, NEET is conducted in an offline pen-and-paper format across the country.
Pradhan said fresh admit cards for the re-examination would be issued by June 14. Students have been advised to rely only on official communication from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and avoid misinformation circulating on social media.
The NTA has clarified that all candidates appearing for the re-test will receive newly generated admit cards for the June 21 examination.
In another major relief for aspirants, the government announced that candidates would be allowed to choose examination centres according to their convenience for the re-exam.
Officials said this step was introduced to reduce logistical stress and provide flexibility to students appearing again for the national-level entrance examination.

The Education Minister also announced that candidates would receive an additional 15 minutes during the re-exam.
Further, no fresh registration will be required for the NEET re-test. Existing candidature details and previously submitted applications will automatically remain valid.
The government also confirmed that no additional examination fee would be charged from candidates. According to the NTA, fees already paid by students will be refunded while the re-examination expenses will be managed internally by the agency.
Pradhan urged students and parents not to panic or fall for rumours related to the examination controversy. He reiterated that the government maintains zero tolerance toward examination malpractice and said strict action would continue against those involved in irregularities.
