New Delhi: Corona infection has started raising its head once again in the country. This deadly virus, which wreaked havoc all over the world from 2020 to 2022, has knocked once again. This time its new variant JN.1 is becoming a matter of concern, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The number of infected cases are gradually increasing particularly in Delhi, Kerala and Karnataka.
A sudden increase in Covid-19 cases have been registered in the National Capital Delhi. While reviewing the situation of Covid in the capital, Health Minister Pankaj Singh said that so far 23 active cases have been reported, which have been confirmed by private labs. Although the condition of all the cases has been reported to be normal, the health department has issued advisory to all the hospitals and instructed them to be cautious.
So far four cases have been reported in Ghaziabad. The first case is of an 18-year-old girl resident of Brijvihar, who was complaining of cough, cold and fever since May 18. She was brought to Yashoda Hospital Kaushambi for examination, where the COVID-19 report was found positive. At present, this patient is admitted in the hospital and is under the supervision of doctors.
The second case reported in Ghaziabad is of Vasundhara. The elderly couple resident of Vasundhara returned here from Bengaluru on May 13. Both suddenly complained of cough and fever from May 16. On the advice of the doctor, both were tested for COVID, in which both the husband (71 years) and wife (64 years) were found infected. Both are currently in isolation at home and their condition is said to be normal.

The third case is of a 37-year-old woman resident of Vaishali, who was complaining of cough and cold for the last 4-5 days. After medical examination, she was also found to be Covid positive. The woman is currently in home isolation and her condition is said to be normal.
In Bengaluru, a 9-month-old girl has been found Corona infected. According to the health department, the girl is a resident of Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural district. On May 22, the infection was confirmed in her through a rapid antigen test. The girl was first admitted to a private hospital, but now she has been shifted to Vani Vilas Hospital. According to the health department, her condition is currently stable.
Karnataka currently has a total of 35 active COVID-19 cases, of which 32 are from Bengaluru alone. Department officials say that a slow but steady increase in cases has been observed in the last 20 days, which is a matter of concern.
Kerala has reported the highest number of 273 new cases
In view of the increasing number of Covid cases, the Kerala government has also intensified surveillance. State Health Minister Veena George has directed all districts to remain vigilant and increase surveillance. She informed that so far 273 new cases have been registered in the state in the month of May. Of these, the highest number of cases have been reported from Kottayam (82), Thiruvananthapuram (73), Ernakulam (49), Pathanamthitta (30) and Thrissur (26) districts.
The Minister held a meeting with the District Medical and Surveillance Officers and said that vigilance is very important in view of the increasing cases in South-East Asia. Instructions have been given to take immediate action if the infection increases in any district.
Keeping in view of the new cases of corona and the spread of the JN.1 variant, the Health Department has also appealed to the general public to be vigilant. People have been asked to take necessary steps like avoiding crowds, wearing masks and cleaning hands. Also, it is advised to get tested immediately and consult a doctor if mild symptoms appear.
