Lalu Yadav Family Faces Charges in Land-for-Job Scam
New Delhi: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has ordered the framing of charges against former Bihar Chief Minister and former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti, son Tejashwi Yadav, and other accused in the land-for-job scam. The court also directed all the accused to appear in person.
Special Judge Vishal Gogane stated that former Railway Minister Lalu Yadav abused his position and engaged in criminal activities. He acquired land in connivance with railway officials and close associates. The court framed charges against a total of 41 people in the case and acquitted 52 others, including several railway officials.

Advocate Ajaz Ahmed stated that the court has framed charges against Lalu Yadav, Misa Bharti, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, and Hema Yadav under sections 420, 120B, and 13 of the Indian Penal Code. The next hearing for framing of charges will be held on January 29.
The CBI named 103 accused in its chargesheet, five of whom have since died. The chargesheet makes serious allegations against Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, and other members of their family.
The CBI claims that between 2004 and 2009, when Lalu Yadav was Railway Minister, appointments to Group D posts in the Western Central Region (Jabalpur) of the Indian Railways were made in violation of rules. These appointments gave preference to those who donated or transferred land in the name of Lalu Yadav's family or close associates.

According to the investigating agency, these transactions also involved benami properties. This case falls under the category of criminal conspiracy and corruption. Following the court order, political and legal pressure on the Lalu family has increased.
This order made it clear that the court has completed preparations to proceed with the trial against the key accused in the scam. In the upcoming hearing, Lalu and his family will get a chance to defend themselves, while the entire country is keeping an eye on this case.
