Bilaspur: Heavy rains have caused a devastating accident in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district. A private bus was hit by a landslide near the Bhallu Bridge in the Balughat area of the Jhanduta subdivision.

So far, 18 people have died in the accident, and 17 remain buried under the debris. Rescue operations are underway, and several people are still being searched for.
The accident occurred at around 6:25 p.m. on Monday evening when debris and stones fell on a private bus named Santoshi near the Bhallu Bridge on the Ghumarwin route.
During heavy rain, debris and large stones suddenly fell from the hill onto the bus's roof. The bus was carrying approximately 35 passengers. The debris created chaos at the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police and local administration began rescue and relief operations. The debris is being removed with the help of JCB machines and ambulances.
However, the extensive debris is posing significant difficulties in the rescue operation. The nighttime nature of the incident is further posing challenges. Currently, 18 bodies have been recovered, and 17 people are feared trapped.
Three children have been rescued, one of whom died in the accident, and the mother of the child. The children are receiving primary treatment at Barthi Hospital. The bus driver and conductor also died. The deceased has not yet been identified.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and other leaders expressed grief over the accident. Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted his condolences and stated that NDRF teams have reached the site and are engaged in rescue operations. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep condolences over the incident. Expressing condolences to the deceased, he said the state government stands with the affected families in this difficult time.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to expedite relief operations and ensure that the injured receive prompt medical treatment. This landslide in Himachal Pradesh is a tragic incident that has claimed a large number of lives.
