Prime Minister Narendra Modi made emotional appeal to the public
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday in his 'Mann ki Baat' expressed anuguish over the ongoing devastation caused by incessant rains across the country. He said that these natural disasters have "saddened" every one of us, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The Prime Minister was addressing the 125th edition of his radio address 'Mann ki Baat'. He said that in this monsoon season, natural disasters have left homes destroyed, fields submerged, and entire families devastated.
Prime Minister Modi said, "In this monsoon season, natural disasters are testing the country. In the last few weeks we have witnessed massive havoc caused by floods and landslides. Homes torn apart, fields submerged, entire families destroyed. The relentless surge of water swept away bridges-roads got washed away, and people's lives were in danger. These incidents have brought grief to every Indian. The pain of the families who lost their loved ones is shared by all of us."
PM Modi lauded NDRF, SDRF and security forces during the rescue operation during flash floods landslides and cloudbursts. He also hailed the efforts of local residents and social workers for their efforts in this times of crisis.

Prime Minister said, "Wherever there was a crisis, our NDRF-SDRF personnel and other security forces worked day and night to save people. The soldiers also took the help of technology. Efforts were made to speed up relief work with the help of thermal cameras, live detectors, sniffer dogs and drone surveillance. During this, relief material was delivered by helicopters and the injured were airlifted. Armed Forces came forward to help in times of disaster. Local people, social workers, doctors, administration - everyone made every possible effort in this hour of crisis. I heartily thank every such citizen who prioritized humanity in these difficult times."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised two major achievements of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that a record number of people gathered in the stadium of Pulwama and the first day-night cricket match was played here, which was impossible earlier. This match was part of the Royal Premier League. As a second achievement, India's first Khelo India Water Sports Festival was held at Dal Lake in Srinagar, in which more than 800 athletes participated.
PM Modi said that sports play an important role in the unity and development of the country. He announced a digital platform called "Pratibha Setu" for talented youth who did not succeed in the UPSC examination, from where private companies can give them jobs. Apart from this, football players of Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh are going to get training in Germany. PM congratulated Vishwakarma Jayanti and also discussed Operation Polo, in which the Nizam of Hyderabad was freed.
