New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India is launching its first battery electric vehicle for the domestic market, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Displayed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 this electric SUV marks the beginning of the companys long term push into the electric mobility segment. The model will be sold exclusively through the Nexa retail network which handles the company's premium offerings.
Although the company is not expected to declare the official price today it is set to reveal its complete EV ecosystem. This will include details of partnerships with charging solution providers as well as the charging infrastructure Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce at its dealerships. The electric SUV has already gained international traction with more than ten thousand units exported to twenty six markets and plans to reach over one hundred markets in the coming years.
The e Vitara is built on the new Heartect e platform created specifically for electric vehicles. The architecture focuses on rigidity safety and efficient cabin packaging. It features a wheelbase measuring two thousand seven hundred millimetres and a turning radius of five point two metres. Maruti Suzuki will offer two battery pack choices a forty nine kilowatt hour option and a sixty one kilowatt hour pack both using an LFP chemistry in a cell to pack arrangement.
As per internal MIDC test data the larger sixty one kilowatt hour battery delivers a range of more than five hundred kilometres on a single charge. The permanent magnet synchronous motor produces one hundred and five point eight kilowatts on the smaller battery variant and one hundred and twenty eight kilowatts on the larger pack along with peak torque of one hundred and ninety two point five newton metres. A single speed electric drive transmission powers the SUV.

The e Vitara offers three driving modes Eco Normal and Sport along with a snow mode for challenging terrain. The adjustable regenerative braking system enables a near one pedal driving experience. The thermal management system has been tested in extreme environments ranging from minus thirty degrees Celsius to sixty degrees Celsius.
The electric SUV follows the Nexa Crafted Futurism design language featuring a polyhedral body structure next generation Matrix LED daytime running lights LED projector lamps aerodynamic eighteen inch alloy wheels and a roof end spoiler. Inside the cabin the digital cockpit layout incorporates a twin deck floating console a ten point one inch touchscreen and a ten point two five inch information display.
Premium touches include soft touch materials wireless connectivity multicolour ambient lighting a fixed glass sunroof and an Infinity by Harman audio system. The e Vitara also features ventilated front seats and a ten way power adjustable driver seat which the company claims to be the best in its category. Rear passengers benefit from sliding reclining seats with a forty twenty forty split function.

The electric SUV offers Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems seven airbags including a driver knee airbag an electronic parking brake all disc brakes tyre pressure monitoring and an energy absorbing battery mounting structure. At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 the company announced that it will operate fifteen hundred EV capable service workshops across one thousand cities helping strengthen the ownership ecosystem.
The expected starting price of the e Vitara is around eighteen lakh rupees ex showroom. Positioned in the mid size electric SUV category it will compete with the Mahindra BE 6 Hyundai Creta Electric Tata Curvv ev MG ZS EV and VinFast VF6.
