Modi unveils ‘Ease of Living’ blueprint at Council of Ministers meeting

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he had a productive meeting with his council of ministers, where they shared perspectives and best practices aimed at enhancing both 'Ease of Living' and 'Ease of Doing Business'.

Modi said the meeting on Thursday evening also had discussions on how to further reforms to realise the shared dream of a developed India.

PM Modi took to social media X and wrote, "Had a fruitful meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday. We exchanged perspectives and best practices relating to boosting 'Ease of Living, 'Ease of Doing Business' and how to further reforms in order to realise our shared dream of a Viksit Bharat."

The meeting lasted for over four hours and was attended by all Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State (independent charge), and Ministers of State.

The meeting commenced around 5 PM on Thursday and lasted for four and a half hours; it was described as the first full meeting of the Council of Ministers for the year. All Union Ministers, Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and other Ministers of State were present at the meeting.

"Viksit Bharat 2047" Described as a Commitment

According to sources, the Prime Minister told the ministers that "Viksit Bharat 2047" should not merely be a slogan, but rather a national commitment. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on concrete reforms and improved administrative processes to realize the government's long-term vision. The Prime Minister also stated that continuous reforms are essential to enhance both the "Ease of Living" and the "Ease of Doing Business."

Focus on Governance Reforms and Administrative Efficiency

Issues such as governance reforms, the speedy disposal of files, and the timely implementation of decisions were discussed in detail during the meeting. Sources indicated that certain ministries have demonstrated record-breaking performance in file disposal—an achievement that was specifically highlighted during the meeting. The Cabinet Secretary and NITI Aayog also delivered their respective presentations, emphasizing measures to boost administrative efficiency.

More than half a dozen ministries delivered detailed presentations regarding their performance and future action plans, while a total of nine ministries specifically shared updates on their activities.

Discussion on Foreign Policy and the Global Landscape

During the meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar briefed the ministers on the Prime Minister's recent visit to five nations and its key diplomatic outcomes. During this session, the ongoing crisis in West Asia and its potential economic repercussions were also deliberated upon.

The Prime Minister directed the ministries to ensure that citizens face minimal inconvenience in the event of any global crisis.

Emphasis on Energy, Agriculture, and Strategic Sectors

The meeting placed special focus on sectors such as energy, agriculture, fertilizers, aviation, shipping, and logistics. Discussions were also held regarding steps to enhance India's engagement in critical minerals. According to sources, this review is also being viewed as the government's mid-term performance assessment.
