Nepal benefited from India’s socio-economic development

President Paudel told Misri that India, as an emerging international power, is achieving remarkable achievements in the social, economic and technological fields, which has also benefited Nepal.

Kathmandu: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Nepal's President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday. During this, ways to further strengthen bilateral relations in various fields were discussed. President Paudel told Misri that India, as an emerging international power, is achieving remarkable achievements in the social, economic and technological fields, which has also benefited Nepal.

President Paudel also said that Nepal wishes to benefit more from the progress of the neighboring country in the future. According to President's press advisor Kiran Pokhrel, Paudel said that India-Nepal have had social, cultural, religious, spiritual and economic relations for centuries. These have been based on universal equality, friendly cooperation, mutual respect and trust. Nepal has always given high priority to relations with India.

He praised the Neighbor First policy of the Government of India and said that Nepal gives importance to this policy. During the talks, Foreign Secretary Misri also assured that Nepal ranks highest in India's neighbourhood priorities as per the policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Misri informed about the progress in bilateral relations during talks with Prime Minister Oli.

Issues related to bilateral interests discussed

Misri arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday morning on a two-day visit. Apart from the Prime Minister and the President, he also met Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, Nepali Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba. He reached the residence of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) President and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda in Khumaltar. Issues related to bilateral interests were discussed during Misri's meeting with Nepali leaders.

Oli expressed gratitude to PM Modi for the invitation to visit India

Foreign Secretary Misri's two-day visit to Nepal is part of the preparations for Prime Minister Oli's upcoming visit to India. According to Prime Minister Oli's secretariat, the Indian Foreign Secretary extended a formal invitation to visit India on behalf of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a courtesy call on Oli. Prime Minister Oli expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Government of India for this invitation.
