AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi alleges political targeting after receiving a BNSS notice. He questions why only he was singled out and calls the new law a threat to democracy and justice.
Owaisi Slams BNSS Notice, Calls It Political Vendetta
New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi strongly criticized the central government during a public meeting in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. He said that the notice sent to him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) was part of a political vendetta.
Owaisi questioned why he was being targeted when other opposition leaders had not received such notices.
During the discussion on the BNSS Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, Owaisi delivered a nearly 20-minute speech. He said that the new BNSS law, which replaced the old CrPC, has now become a weapon to suppress the opposition rather than a means of justice.
Citing Section 223, he said that it is mandatory to record the statements of the complainant and witnesses before issuing a notice, but this was not done in his case. "This notice was issued solely out of political vendetta."
Owaisi stated that he received the notice on October 8th, when Section 144 was imposed in Delhi and the situation had been tightened to prevent protests. He alleged that he was being targeted because he was one of the most vocal critics of the government's policies.
He also stated that according to the BNSS, forensic investigations are mandatory in cases where the sentence can exceed seven years—but this procedure was not followed in his case.
In his speech, Owaisi sarcastically said, "You are sending me these love letters for no reason. Do you think I don't love India?" He said that he is the only leader who fearlessly criticizes the government's policies.

He also said that if Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh were alive today, they too would oppose the BNSS.
Owaisi called the BNSS a threat to democracy and the justice system. He said that the new law allows police custody to be extended by 15 days, making it more difficult to obtain bail. He said the opposition is now preparing to approach the Supreme Court on this issue.

Asaduddin Owaisi's allegations have raised serious questions about the impartiality and transparency of the BNSS. He says he will not be intimidated and that this fight is to protect justice and democracy.
The controversy is no longer limited to a single notice but has escalated into a national debate on the legitimacy and impartiality of the country's new criminal justice system.
