New Delhi: After a crushing defeat from the Indian Army, Pakistan has now started begging India for water, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Pakistan government sent a letter to India's Jal Shakti Ministry, appealing to reconsider the decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty.
Pakistan's Water Resources Secretary Syed Ali Murtaza wrote in this letter that due to the suspension of the treaty, there has been a huge shortage of water for Kharif crops in Pakistan. However, no official response has come from India so far.
Modi's strict warning has already been given regarding water
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already said that "water and blood cannot flow together." While addressing the nation, the PM had clearly said that action against
Pakistan's terrorist and military bases has only been postponed for now, but Pakistan's behaviour will be monitored in the future. He also said that today is not the time for war, but terrorism cannot be tolerated either.
The Pakistani Foreign Minister had given a threatening warning
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Tuesday, May 13, that if India does not re-implement the Indus Water Treaty and tries to divert the water coming towards Pakistan, then the ceasefire between the two countries could be in danger. He said that even though both the countries respect the ceasefire, the water issue should be resolved immediately after the recent military operations.
India's tough stand after the Pahalgam terror attack
After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, in which 26 people lost their lives, India made a big decision. In the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs (CCS) chaired by PM Modi, it was decided that the Indus Water Treaty would be suspended for the time being.
Along with this, many strict steps were taken, like cancelling all visas for Pakistan, reducing the staff of the Pak High Commission, and closing the Wagah-Attari border.
Three Lashkar militants killed in Shopian behind recent terror activities
A day after three militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and its shadow outfit "The Resistance Front" were killed in a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, the Army said the trio were actively involved in recent terror activities in the region.
The militants — Shahid Kuttay, Adnan Shafi Dar, and Ehsan ul Haq Sheikh — all residents of Shopian, were killed during an encounter in the upper reaches of Keller on Tuesday. Officials identified Kuttay as the operational commander of LeT in South Kashmir.
