New Delhi: A major interstate dispute erupted on Wednesday when Shimla Police filed an FIR against approximately 20 Delhi Police personnel. It is alleged that these policemen forcibly abducted three Youth Congress members. This action sparked tension between the police of the two states.

Alleged Kidnapping

According to Shimla Police, they received information that 15-20 people in plain clothes arrived at a resort in Mandali village in the Chirgaon area of Rohru and forcibly abducted three young men staying there. It is alleged that these individuals also seized a Mahindra Thar vehicle and removed the DVR from the CCTV cameras installed at the resort without any seizure memo or receipt. Based on this, a case was registered at the Chirgaon Police Station, and an investigation was initiated.

Detention in Dharampur, Court Arrest

Upon receiving information about this action, the Himachal Pradesh Police set up a checkpoint in Dharampur, Solan district, and stopped the Delhi Police team, along with the three youths. They were later produced in the Shimla District Court. The Delhi Police presented documents related to the FIR registered in Delhi in the court.

The Himachal Police called the arrest "illegal" and said that the local police were not informed in advance. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police alleged that their official duty was being obstructed. The court later allowed the Delhi Police to take the three youths to Delhi for further action.

Convoy Stopped Again in Shoghi

However, when the Delhi Police team left for Delhi in the evening, the Shimla Police stopped them again near Shoghi. During this, they were informed that a kidnapping case had been registered against them and they would have to participate in the investigation.

Preparations for Medical Examination and Transit Remand

Delhi Police conducted medical examinations of the three arrested Youth Congress workers—Arbaaz, Siddharth, and Saurabh—at Shimla's Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Following this, they will be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in Shimla, and preparations are underway to seek transit remand.

Controversy Had Occurred Previously

Earlier, on February 21, Delhi Police raided Himachal Sadan in Delhi. According to reports, Youth Congress members involved in a protest at Bharat Mandapam were staying there. At that time, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu condemned the Delhi Police's action and said that the state government should have been informed of the incident.
