New Delhi: Hours before the Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced on Monday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued a notification revising the seating arrangement of 39 Members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha. The reshuffle includes MPs from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, reflecting the latest political alignments in the House.

Speaker Issues Fresh Seating Notification

The revised seating plan was notified just before the first sitting of the Monsoon Session. Parliamentary officials informed the affected MPs of their new seats to ensure smooth proceedings from the opening day of the session.

The move has drawn attention as it comes immediately ahead of what is expected to be a politically charged session.

Why Were the Seats Changed?

According to the notification, MPs who have switched political parties will no longer be seated alongside members of their former parties. Instead, they have been assigned seats in accordance with their current political affiliation and parliamentary status.

The notification also includes changes involving members of the Trinamool Congress and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, bringing the seating arrangement in line with the present composition of the House.

Political Significance Ahead of Session

The Monsoon Session is expected to witness intense exchanges between the government and the Opposition over a range of national issues. Ahead of the proceedings, the Congress Parliamentary Party scheduled a meeting at **10:30 a.m.** to finalise its strategy for the session.

Opposition parties are expected to raise issues including the ongoing CJP protest, alleged education-related irregularities and paper leaks, Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike, the ethanol policy and several other matters that have dominated recent political discussions.

Routine Exercise With Political Impact

While changes in MPs' seating arrangements are an administrative exercise carried out by the Lok Sabha Speaker, this latest reshuffle has attracted attention because of its timing and its reflection of recent political developments within Parliament.

The revised seating arrangement will remain in force unless further changes are notified by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
