Ruma Devi’s recognition at Dynamite News’ landmark celebration comes just after another global honor — her felicitation at “Diwali at Times Square” in New York, USA. The prestigious event that was scheduled for October 10 and 12, 2025, celebrated India’s cultural heritage on one of the world’s most iconic stages.
According to Neeta Bhasin, founder of the initiative, Diwali at Times Square has evolved into the largest Indian cultural celebration outside India, attended by dignitaries including the Mayor of New York City, US officials, and Indian diplomats.
Ruma Devi will be recognized there for her pioneering role in women’s empowerment and promotion of Indian handicrafts—a testament to how local efforts can gain global acclaim.
The award recognises her outstanding work in women’s empowerment and promotion of traditional Indian crafts.
Adding another feather to her cap, Ruma Devi also appeared as a Special Guest at the AIA Diwali Festival on October 11, 2025, at Overlook Beach, Long Island. This event, organized by the Association of Indians in America, showcases cultural performances, art exhibitions, and cuisine from across India, celebrating the spirit of togetherness within the Indian diaspora.
Ruma Devi’s journey has been one of perseverance, purpose, and passion. She has earlier addressed audiences at Harvard University, been honoured by the Government of India, and received a Congressional Certificate of Recognition from US Congressman Troy E. Nehls for her global contributions.
She has also been felicitated by the Governments of Suffolk and Nassau Counties, New York, and invited as a Celebrity Guest at the India Day Parade in Manhattan. Her story continues to inspire women across borders, proving that true leadership begins at the grassroots.
As Dynamite News marked its 10th anniversary by celebrating such changemakers, Ruma Devi’s recognition stood out — reminding India that empowerment and excellence often bloom in the most unexpected corners of the country.
