Agartala: A local court in Kailashahar under Tripura’s Unokoti district on Saturday sent five illegal Bangladeshi nationals to 12 days' judicial custody for crossing the international border without valid documents.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested three persons, including a one-year-old child, on Friday night in Depachhara village.

During interrogation, they disclosed the whereabouts of two others staying in Machmara under the Pecharthal Police Station area of the district, and police arrested them immediately.

Police also brought the house to two locations where Bangladeshi nationals were hiding for interrogation, and it transpired that all five are residents of Moulvibazar district in Bangladesh and have a relation with the Indian householders.

They were produced before the Unakoti District Court on Saturday, which remanded them to judicial custody till May 22.
