Greater Noida: Uttar Pradesh has taken its local products, traditional skills and entrepreneurial strength to the global marketplace with the launch of the fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the five-day business exhibition in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s growing role as a manufacturing and export hub.
The mega trade event has brought together more than 600 international buyers from 90 countries, over 2,400 exhibitors and an estimated 1.5 lakh B2B visitors. The showcase has put Uttar Pradesh’s MSMEs, artisans, farmers, startups and manufacturers in direct contact with global markets.
The event is being seen as a major platform for promoting the state’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, indigenous industries, modern manufacturing ecosystem and export-driven economy.
## UP’s Products Gain Global Trust
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the growing international confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s products, supply chain network and entrepreneurs.
The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh is now exporting goods worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore, reflecting the transformation of the state’s business environment, industrial infrastructure and investment ecosystem.
He said the UP International Trade Show, which started four years ago, has evolved into a major global platform where local products are connected with international buyers.
The increasing participation of foreign buyers, according to the state government, reflects rising interest in Uttar Pradesh’s skilled workforce, MSME sector, agricultural products and traditional industries.
## ODOP Legacy Gets Global Platform
A major highlight of the event was the launch of the ‘Ek Janpad-Ek Vyanjan’ ODOC portal by Amit Shah in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath.
The initiative aims to further strengthen district-level special products and provide entrepreneurs with better access to branding, marketing and global markets.
The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh always had immense potential, but the requirement was to create the right environment, provide infrastructure support and connect talent with buyers.
The government’s ODOP initiative has focused on identifying district-specific skills and transforming traditional occupations into commercially successful brands.
## Tradition Meets Technology In UP’s Growth Story
CM Yogi highlighted how technology, modern design, packaging, certification and digital marketing have helped local products reach international consumers.
He said the combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology has helped transform products such as Bhadohi carpets, Moradabad brassware, Kannauj perfume and Varanasi silk into globally recognised brands.
The state government has also linked artisans with schemes including ODOP, PM Vishwakarma and Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, providing training, modern tools, financial support and market opportunities.
The focus remains on creating a strong ecosystem where small businesses can compete in domestic as well as international markets.
## Uttar Pradesh Expands GI Tag Portfolio
Uttar Pradesh has strengthened its position in protecting traditional products through Geographical Indication (GI) recognition.
According to CM Yogi, 79 products from the state have received GI tags, while applications for 75 more products have been submitted.
GI recognition helps preserve regional identity while improving market value and global visibility of traditional products.
The government believes these initiatives will support artisans, increase exports and create new employment opportunities across districts.
## Infrastructure Push Boosts Export Potential
The Chief Minister highlighted the role of modern infrastructure in connecting Uttar Pradesh’s industries with global markets.
He pointed to the expansion of expressways, highways, airports, freight corridors and industrial infrastructure as key factors helping manufacturers transport products faster and access wider markets.
The state government has been promoting Uttar Pradesh as an investment destination by improving logistics connectivity and creating opportunities for domestic and international companies.
The use of Free Trade Agreements signed by India with several countries is also expected to support international businesses looking to manufacture products in Uttar Pradesh and access global markets.
## Global Participation At UPITS 2026
The fourth edition of UP International Trade Show has attracted participation from several countries, including Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Singapore, Austria and Belarus.
Partner countries have established special pavilions to showcase their industries and explore business opportunities.
The participation of international representatives is expected to strengthen trade relations, technology partnerships and possible joint ventures between Uttar Pradesh businesses and global companies.
Foreign buyers, entrepreneurs and exhibitors attended the opening ceremony along with senior government officials and representatives from different countries.
## MSME Sector Emerges As Employment Engine
The Uttar Pradesh government highlighted the importance of the MSME sector in employment generation and economic growth.
MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary said more than one crore MSME units operate in the state, providing employment to over three crore people.
After agriculture, the MSME sector remains one of the biggest sources of employment in Uttar Pradesh.
Through ODOP and Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, more than six lakh handicraft artisans have benefited from skill development programmes, training and advanced toolkits.
The government is also promoting easier credit access by providing financial assistance and loans to entrepreneurs.
## Amit Shah And Yogi Visit Trade Show Stalls
The inauguration ceremony began with Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath paying tribute to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
CM Yogi presented Amit Shah with an opal glass Radha-Krishna idol from Firozabad under the ODOP initiative.
Both leaders later toured the exhibition stalls through an e-cart, interacted with entrepreneurs and reviewed products displayed by businesses from across Uttar Pradesh.
The interaction highlighted the government’s focus on connecting local entrepreneurs directly with national and international markets.
## Bigger Business Impact For Uttar Pradesh
The UP International Trade Show is expected to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s image as an emerging manufacturing centre and export destination.
The event provides entrepreneurs an opportunity to build international partnerships, explore new markets and showcase products beyond traditional boundaries.
With global buyers, investors and businesses participating, the trade show reflects Uttar Pradesh’s push towards becoming a major contributor to India’s economic growth story.
## What Happens Next
The focus will now remain on business-to-business meetings, export agreements, investment opportunities and collaborations between Uttar Pradesh entrepreneurs and global companies.
