New Delhi: An Instagram video posted by a foreign resident in Delhi has once again drawn attention to the capital’s deteriorating air quality. The clip, shared by Andy Evans popularly known as “Aussie Bhai” on social media shows him cleaning an air purifier filter after just two months of use, revealing a shocking amount of accumulated pollution.

Air Purifier Filter Turns Pitch Black

In the video, Evans removes the filter from his air purifier, which would normally remain white or light grey after routine use. Instead, the filter appears completely black, covered in thick layers of dust and particulate matter. Evans explains that the purifier had been running for only two months inside his Delhi home.

“Look at this. This is two months in Delhi,” he says in the video, expressing disbelief at the amount of pollution trapped in the filter. He adds that this is only one of three air purifiers operating in his house, calling the situation “insane.”

Humour Mixed With Concern

While addressing the camera, Evans attempts to lighten the moment with humour. He jokes that the filter looks like a “sheet of dust” or even a “carpet” that could be repurposed to keep a house warm. Despite the lighthearted tone, the video clearly conveys his concern about the severity of air pollution in the city.

Social Media Reacts With Shock and Warnings

The video quickly gained traction on Instagram, prompting a wave of reactions from users. Many expressed disbelief at how much pollution had accumulated in such a short period. Some users joked about turning the dust into clothing, while others shared their own experiences, advising frequent cleaning of air purifier filters.

Several comments reflected deeper concern about the long-term health risks of air pollution. “People are far too casual about this problem. Someday it’s going to cause much more damage than we expect,” one user wrote.

‘Value Your Health,’ Users Warn

Some social media users went beyond commentary, offering advice and cautionary remarks. A few suggested relocating to parts of southern India during peak pollution seasons, citing better air quality and greenery. Others issued stark warnings, urging people to leave Delhi—or even India if they valued their health.

Pollution Debate Reignited

The viral video has reignited public debate over Delhi’s chronic air pollution, especially as residents continue to grapple with hazardous air quality levels. While authorities regularly announce measures to tackle pollution, the clip serves as a stark reminder of the everyday reality faced by millions living in the national capital.
