World Environment Day 2025
New Delhi: Today, on June 5, World Environment Day is being celebrated all over the world. Environment Day reminds all of us about our duty and responsibility to protect planet Earth. According to the Dynamite News correspondent, the theme of World Environment Day 2025 this year is 'End Plastic Pollution.'
The biggest problem of the world
This time the theme of Environment Day 2025 is 'End Plastic Pollution.' This theme has been chosen because plastic pollution has become one of the biggest environmental problems in the world today. Our environment is being endangered by the increasing use of plastic. Due to this, animals are also facing a lot of problems, and microplastics are proving to be very fatal for human health.
Important to control plastic pollution
Several million tons of plastic are used every year, out of which only a very small part is recycled. Also, plastic does not decompose, which means it does not rot and get mixed in the earth. Therefore, plastic pollution is increasing rapidly. At the same time, a large amount of plastic is thrown into the sea, due to which marine life is also suffocating.
Therefore, there is a great need to control plastic pollution.
Why World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June
According to the information, June 5 was chosen as World Environment Day because on this day in 1972, the United Nations General Assembly organized the first global summit on environmental protection; it is known as the Stockholm Conference.

Many countries participated in this conference and discussed environmental challenges. After this, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) was established, and June 5 was declared World Environment Day.
Urge to increase efforts to protect planet Earth
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to increase efforts to protect planet Earth. To mark the occasion, the Prime Minister also planted a sapling at Mahavir Jayanti Park in Delhi as part of the celebrations organized across the country.
