CJP Backs Rahul Gandhi’s Allegation Against Amit Shah Over July 20 Protest Crackdown

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday supported Rahul Gandhi's allegations regarding the July 20 student protest crackdown, with the party's chief spokesperson Saurav Das calling for accountability over the police action.

Speaking during the debate on the Anti-Paper Leak Bill in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Home Minister had authorised the use of force against protesting students. He argued that responsibility for such action ultimately rested with either the Home Minister or the Prime Minister.

Saurav Das Demands Answers

Reacting to the Congress leader's remarks, Saurav Das said the allegations raised serious concerns about the handling of the July 20 protest. In a post on X, he said every injured student deserved answers and urged Amit Shah to respond to the allegations surrounding the police action.

BJP Rejects Allegations

The BJP strongly objected to Rahul Gandhi's remarks. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju challenged the Congress leader to produce evidence for his claims and said such allegations should not be made in Parliament without proof.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also reminded members that allegations against individuals require prior notice and supporting evidence under parliamentary rules.

Centre Maintains No Firing Took Place

Union Minister Jitendra Singh rejected Rahul Gandhi's allegations, stating that no firing took place during the July 20 protest and that only tear gas was used. He added that any decision regarding the use of force rests with the magistrate present at the spot and not with a Union minister.

Pellet Gun Row Continues

The controversy has intensified following reports referring to a police diary entry that allegedly mentioned the use of pellet rounds during the protest. The issue has since become a major political flashpoint, with the ruling BJP, the Opposition and CJP presenting conflicting accounts of the events.
