Atishi asks Raghav Chadha why he is scared of Modi (Source: Internet)
New Delhi: Tensions within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) escalated on Friday as senior leaders publicly criticised Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, a day after he was removed as the party’s deputy leader in the Upper House.
The controversy intensified after Chadha questioned his removal, prompting sharp responses from key party figures.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi led the attack, raising pointed questions over Chadha’s role in Parliament. In a public statement, she asked whether he was “scared” to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Atishi accused Chadha of remaining silent on critical issues such as rising LPG prices, alleged electoral concerns, and actions against party workers. She also claimed he failed to stand with the party during key protests, stating that AAP leaders are expected to actively raise public concerns.

Adding to her criticism, Atishi said, “Why do you fear the BJP so much? Why are you afraid to ask questions to PM Modi? You stayed silent when BJP workers rigged elections in Delhi. You kept quiet even when democracy is under attack in West Bengal. Today, one of the biggest concerns for the common man is the LPG crisis."
Raghav Chadha Is Compromised: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann defends to AAP’s Rajya Sabha move
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reiterated that Chadha’s removal was part of routine party functioning. He emphasised that members are expected to follow the party whip in Parliament.
Mann also made a strong remark, calling Chadha “compromised” and suggesting that raising less significant issues instead of core public concerns raises doubts about a leader’s priorities.
AAP leader Anurag Dhanda also criticised Chadha, alleging that he had been reluctant to speak against the central government in recent years. He questioned Chadha’s absence from key parliamentary actions and accused him of avoiding important political confrontations.
Leaders echoed concerns that limited speaking time in Parliament should be used to highlight major national issues rather than less pressing matters.
Big Breaking: Raghav Chadha will not resign himself from Rajya Sabha
The political row also drew a response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Party MP Praveen Khandelwal criticised AAP leadership, alleging that the party has become centred around Arvind Kejriwal rather than its original principles.
The public exchange highlights growing internal discord within AAP, with senior leaders openly questioning one of the party’s prominent faces. The episode is expected to have wider political implications as the party navigates both internal cohesion and external challenges.
