DK Shivakumar set to be sworn In as Karnataka CM
Bengaluru: The stage is set for senior Congress leader and eight-time MLA DK Shivakumar to be sworn in as the 34th Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday evening at Lok Bhavan, marking the completion of the leadership transition from outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Hours ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, the Congress high command announced the first list of 13 Cabinet ministers who will take oath alongside Shivakumar. Ending days of speculation, the party named G Parameshwara as the Deputy Chief Minister.
The inaugural Cabinet will include Yathindra Siddaramaiah, who is set to make his Cabinet debut, along with senior leaders UT Khader, MB Patil, KJ George, KH Muniyappa, Satish Jarkiholi, Ramalinga Reddy, Krishna Byre Gowda, Priyank Kharge, Ishwar Khandre, Byrathi Suresh and Sharan Prakash Patil. Party sources indicated that the Cabinet is likely to be expanded after the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to witness the presence of several top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states, including VD Satheesan, Revanth Reddy and Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, are also expected to attend.
Religious leaders, students, pourakarmikas, farmers’ representatives, Dalit leaders and Kannada activists have been invited to the event, which the Congress hopes will showcase unity and a broad social coalition behind the new government.
The transition follows Siddaramaiah’s resignation last week after directions from the Congress leadership, paving the way for Shivakumar to assume the state’s top executive post.
The swearing-in marks a significant political milestone for Shivakumar, who has long been regarded as one of the Congress party’s most influential leaders in Karnataka.
