Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar visited Delhi, meeting Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to discuss both Assam and Karnataka political developments. Earlier, he met Priyanka Gandhi amid rising speculation over his potential elevation as Karnataka CM.
New Delhi: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is on a visit to Delhi and is regularly meeting with top Congress leaders. Two days ago, he met with Priyanka Gandhi. He also recently met with Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Speaking to the media, he stated that the primary agenda of their meeting was the political issue of Assam.
After Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma accused Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi of having links with Pakistan, the Congress formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter, consisting of D.K. Shivakumar and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The committee's report will be submitted to the Congress President.
D.K. Shivakumar, when asked about Karnataka, said, "Time will tell," which has fueled political speculation. A significant portion of Congress workers support D.K. Shivakumar, leading to speculation that he could soon become the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.
The Congress high command is facing increasing pressure over the previously agreed two-and-a-half-year chief ministership formula. Political experts believe that significant changes may soon be expected in Karnataka.
