PM Modi in Karnataka: Gita’s message resonates in Udupi; Says ‘Ending Oppressors Is Essential’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Karnataka’s Udupi and addressed a massive gathering during the Vishva Geeta Parayana event. He highlighted Udupi’s historic contribution to the Jan Sangh, praised the spiritual energy of one lakh people reciting the Gita together, and linked his government’s welfare policies to teachings of Lord Krishna.

Udupi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Udupi on Thursday on a day-long visit to Karnataka, where he was welcomed by Jagadguru Sri Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji at the Vishwa Geeta Paryaya – Lakshya Kantha Geeta Parayan program. Over one lakh people simultaneously recited verses from the Gita at this spiritual event, a historic sight in itself.

Udupi: The Karmabhoomi of the BJP and Jan Sangh – PM Modi

Beginning his address, Prime Minister Modi described Udupi as the Karmabhoomi of the BJP and the Jan Sangh's model of good governance. He said, "In 1968, the people of Udupi elected V.S. Acharya of the Jan Sangh to the municipal council. The cleanliness drive seen across the country today was initiated in Udupi five decades ago."

PM Modi said that Udupi is also special to him because it has been a center of spirituality, service, and national consciousness.

Prime Minister speaks on the energy of Gita recitation

Referring to the mass recitation of Gita verses at the event, PM Modi said:
“Mantras and shlokas have been recited in our society for centuries, but when one hundred thousand voices recite them in unison, the energy emanating from it gives new strength to the mind and brain. This energy is the power of spirituality and social unity.”

He said that this event of Lakh Kantha Gita Parayan is an experience of immense spiritual energy.

Udupi's role in the Ram Mandir movement

PM Modi stated that he was in Ayodhya three days before attending the event. He said: “On November 25th, on the auspicious day of Vivah Panchami, the Dharma Dhwaja was hoisted at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. The entire country knows Udupi's role in the Ram Mandir movement.”

He said that the policies of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and 'Sarvajan Sukhay' are inspired by the teachings of Lord Krishna.

Krishna's teachings on the poor, women, and security

Prime Minister Modi explained that Lord Krishna preaches the message of helping the poor and respecting women, and this inspired initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and the Nari Shakti Vandan Act.

End of oppressors necessary to establish peace - Modi

PM Modi said, "The Bhagavad Gita teaches us that the end of oppressors is essential to establish peace and truth. The country has seen our resolve in Operation Sindoor. We know how to establish peace and protect it."

He also recalled Mission Sudarshan Chakra from the Red Fort.

Inauguration of the Golden Tirtha Mantapa and Kanaka Kavach

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Golden Tirtha Mantapa, a grand pavilion in front of the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Krishna. He will also dedicate the Kanaka Kavach, a golden covering on the Kanakana Kindi the very spot where Saint Kanakadasa first saw Lord Krishna.
