New Delhi: India’s Asian Games 2026 campaign witnessed an unexpected development hours before the opening ceremony, with kabaddi star Pawan Sehrawat replacing shot put champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor as the male flag-bearer of the Indian contingent.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) confirmed the last-minute change on Saturday after Toor became unavailable for the ceremonial event due to logistical issues related to his official team kit. Sehrawat will now carry the Indian flag alongside Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker during the athletes’ parade at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games opening ceremony.
The sudden change has attracted attention as Toor was originally selected for one of the most prestigious honours for an Indian athlete, while Sehrawat’s elevation adds another memorable milestone to his already decorated sporting career.
