BCCI Doubles Match Fees for Domestic Women Cricketers
Mumbai: After the women's cricket team made history by winning their first World Cup title on home soil in 2025, more good news has arrived for Indian women cricketers. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to double the salaries of women domestic cricketers. The match fees for senior players have been increased from ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 per day.
Currently, players in the playing XI of senior women's tournaments receive ₹20,000 and reserve players receive ₹10,000 per day. In junior tournaments, the amounts were ₹10,000 and ₹5,000 respectively. Under the new system, players in the playing XI of senior tournaments will receive ₹50,000 and reserve players will receive ₹25,000 per day.

For T20 matches, the fees for senior players will be ₹25,000 and for reserves ₹12,500. Meanwhile, in junior women's tournaments, the playing XI will receive ₹25,000 and reserves ₹12,500 per day. For T20 matches, this will be ₹12,500 and ₹6,250 respectively.
BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla said, “We have doubled the match fees for India's domestic women cricketers. This initiative is an extension of the initiative by former BCCI Secretary and current ICC Chairman Jay Shah, who implemented equal pay for international women cricketers.”
The BCCI is concerned about India's poor performance in the Under-19 Asia Cup final. India suffered a crushing 191-run defeat against Pakistan in the final. The board will review the team's performance. Vice-President Shukla said, “We are concerned about this heavy defeat. We will hold discussions to strengthen Under-19 cricket.”
This review is crucial as the 2026 Under-19 World Cup is scheduled to begin on January 15 in Zimbabwe and Namibia. The board will seek a report from team manager Salil Datar and will hold discussions with head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar, bowling coach Sunil Joshi, and possibly captain Ayush Mhatre.

The Indian women's cricket team brought glory by winning the World Cup in 2025. The BCCI's new salary structure is a major boost for domestic women cricketers. Meanwhile, the review and preparation of the Under-19 team will ensure that the young players perform better in upcoming international tournaments and uphold the spirit of the game.
