New Delhi: Team India's former captain and brilliant batsman Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket in May this year. Earlier, after winning the T20 World Cup, he had also said goodbye to the shortest format. Now he only plays ODI cricket.

Rohit said, "You have to prepare well for Test cricket. Playing continuously for five days is very tiring. It also affects the mind. But we all have started with first class cricket, due to which we get used to it from the beginning."
He further said, "When we are young, we do not understand the importance of preparation. But as the experience increases, we understand that preparation and discipline are an important part of the game. Especially in Test cricket, where focus and mental freshness are most important."

Rohit played his first Test match in the year 2013. He scored a century in the very first match. Rohit Sharma played 67 Test matches for India in Test cricket. During this, he scored 4301 runs at an average of 40.57 with the help of 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
Rohit captained India in the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. Apart from the last series at home against New Zealand and the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia, his performance as captain was poor.
