India has announced a 15-member squad for the T20 series against Sri Lanka, featuring fresh young talents alongside senior stars. The series marks India’s first outing after winning the 2025 ODI World Cup.

New Delhi: The BCCI has announced a 15-member Indian squad for the five-match home T20 series against Sri Lanka. Significantly, this series will be the first international series played by India after winning the 2025 ODI World Cup. Therefore, all eyes will be on the team's new energy and combination.
Harmanpreet Kaur will once again lead the Indian team, while her trusted partner Smriti Mandhana will serve as vice-captain. This duo has long provided both experience and stability to Indian women's cricket, and the BCCI has shown faith in their leadership.
Young star batter Shafali Verma has also been included in the team. She impressed in the knockout stages of the 2025 World Cup and has also shown excellent form in domestic cricket. Her aggressive playing style can provide the team with a strong start in the T20 format.

The biggest attraction of this squad are two new young players:

World Cup Winning Team
Both players were part of the 2025 Under-19 World Cup team. Notably, Vaishnavi Sharma bowled brilliantly in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, taking 21 wickets in 11 matches, making her the most successful bowler of the tournament.
The fast bowling attack will be led by Renuka Singh Thakur, who makes a return to the team. Also, Sayali Satghare, Radha Yadav and Suchi Upadhyay like Reliable bowlers have retained their places.
