Jemimah Rodrigues' Magic Propels India to Women's World Cup Final
New Delhi: The Indian team created history in the second semi-final of the Women's ODI World Cup 2025, played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. India defeated world champions Australia by five wickets to reach the World Cup final for the third time.
The biggest heroine of this historic match was Jemimah Rodrigues, who played a magnificent unbeaten innings of 127 runs (134 balls) and guided the team to victory.
When Amanjot Kaur hit the winning boundary, the entire stadium erupted in joy. Jemimah's face reflected a mix of triumph and tears of relief. Her teammates rushed onto the field, and everyone celebrated this unforgettable moment.
Interestingly, the Australian team gave Jemimah two lifelines during the match, and she took full advantage of both opportunities, knocking Australia out of the tournament.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also played a significant role in this victory. She played a brilliant innings of 89 runs (88 balls) and, along with Jemimah, forged a 171-run partnership that completely turned the match in India's favor.
Harmanpreet's aggressive approach and Jemimah's composed play were the beauty of this partnership. When India was struggling after early setbacks, this pair not only steadied the team but also restored their confidence.
Winning the toss and batting first, Australia posted a massive score of 338 runs. Phoebe Litchfield (119 runs), Ellyse Perry (77 runs), and Ashleigh Gardner (65 runs) performed brilliantly.

India Reaches Women's World Cup 2025 Final with Record-Breaking Victory
For India, Sri Charani (2/49) and Deepti Sharma (2/73) took wickets, but it was not easy to control the run rate. In reply, India had a shaky start, but Jemimah and Harmanpreet took charge in the middle order, leading the team to a historic victory. A Shower of Records
For the first time, a target of 300+ runs was successfully chased in a women's World Cup knockout match. India achieved its first-ever victory chasing a 200+ target in a Women's World Cup.
Australia's 15-match unbeaten streak (since 2022) came to an end. This is Australia's second semi-final defeat, and both times the team that defeated them was India.
With Australia's elimination, it is now certain that either India or South Africa will be crowned the new World Cup champion on Sunday.
This victory for India brings back memories of the 2017 semi-final, when India, under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, defeated the same team.
