New Delhi: Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on Wednesday evening. He will continue playing in ODIs. Rohit announced his retirement from Test cricket from his social media handle.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, he shared a picture of his Test cap on Insta Story and wrote in the caption - I want to tell all of you friends that I am retiring from Test cricket. It is a matter of great pride for me to represent my country in this format. Thank you very much to all of you. I will continue to play for India in ODIs.
Rohit played his first Test match in the year 2013. He scored a century in the very first match. Rohit Sharma played 67 Test matches for India in Test cricket. During this, he scored 4301 runs at an average of 40.57 with the help of 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries.
Rohit captained India in the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. Apart from the last series at home against New Zealand and the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia, his performance as captain was poor.
