Ahmedabad: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today named Isudan Gadhvi its Chief Ministerial candidate for Gujarat, where it is campaigning aggressively against the ruling BJP.

Isudan Gadhvi is a former journalist and TV anchor. Gadhvi got 73 per cent of the votes in an AAP survey on who should be its Gujarat chief minister face. 

Isudan Gadhvi joined AAP in June last year.

Besides Gadhvi, AAP's state unit president Gopal Italia and general secretary Manoj Soratihya were also in the race for the top post.

While announcing the name of Isudan Gadhvi as AAP CM candidate for Gujarat, Kejriwal said the 40-year-old Gadhvi got as many as 73 per cent votes in a poll conducted by the party. Gadhvi hails from a farmers’ family in Dwarka district’s Pipaliya village and belongs to the other backward castes, which account for 48 per cent of the state’s population.

Gujarat polls will be held in two phases on 1 and 5 December. The results will be declared on 8 December. (Agencies)
