Freezing cold conditions intensified in Kashmir valley as the tourist resort of Pahalgam experienced the coldest night of the season at minus 11.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Read on for details:

Srinagar: Freezing cold conditions intensified in Kashmir valley as the tourist resort of Pahalgam experienced the coldest night of the season at minus 11.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

Tourist hot spot Pahalgam in south Kashmir experienced the season's coldest night at minus 11.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday against minus 10.2 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was 4.6 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season at the valley of shepherds. Earlier on January 15 the tourist resort recorded seasons low at minus 10.9 degree Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.7 degree Celsius against minus 1.9 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 0.6 degrees below normal during this period of the season.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir after experiencing seasons lowest at minus 12.0 degree Celsius a day ago was recorded at minus 11.5 degree Celsius on Tuesday. It was 3.8 degrees below normal during this period of the season for the famous ski resort.

Qazigund, on Srinagar Jammu national highway in south Kashmir had a low of minus 5.4 degree Celsius, Kokernag minus 5.2 degree Celsius while the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara recorded a low of minus 4.3 degree Celsius on Tuesday, the MeT office said.

MeT forecast from January 19-21 Cloudy with chances of light Snow over isolated to scattered places mainly over higher reaches, while from January 22-24 widespread moderate Snow/(rain in Jammu) & moderate to heavy Snow over middle & higher reaches most likely during 22 night-24 forenoon.
