Lucknow Golf Club Row: Lokayukta Sanjay Mishra Orders To Seal Chambers Of Club Officials

Lucknow: The committee constituted by the High Court over Lucknow Golf Club dispute ordered to seal the chambers of the Club officials. Consequently the offices of the Secretary, Joint Secretary and Captain of Lucknow Golf Club have been sealed in order to save the old documents from tampering. 

The two-member committee include Lokayukta Justice Sanjay Mishra and retired Justice Rakesh Srivastava. The date of next hearing in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court is scheduled on 18 October.

Beginning of dispute 

There was a general body meeting of the Club last Sunday. During the meeting there was some dispute regarding the members of judicial quarters which led to pandemonium. As a result about 150 members through a no confidence motion got the Executive Committee dissolved. 

Later the matter reached the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. Club Secretary Sandeep Das filed the case through Writ-C No. 6834/2022. After that the single bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia constituted an interim committee of retired Justice of Allahabad HC and presently Lokayukta of Uttar Pradesh Sanjay Mishra and retired Justice Rakesh Kumar Srivastava.

Lokayukta Sanjay Mishra is known for his impartiality and honesty. When there was a controversy over the appointment of Lokayukta in UP in the year 2016, the Supreme Court had directly intervened and appointed Sanjay Mishra as the Lokayukta of Uttar Pradesh.
