Gorakhpur/Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force on Saturday arrested the infamous shooter Raju Ansari alias Aftab from Gorakhpur. Aftab is accused of several serious crimes including murder, dacoity, firing and robbery and was absconding for the last 12 years.
The police had declared a reward of Rs 50,000 on the arrested Aftab. He was one of the interstate shooters and robbers of the infamous Brijesh Yadav gang. STF had already neutralised Brijesh Yadav in an encounter.
Born in Sitamarhi district in Bihar, Raju Ansari was carrying out his nefarious activities mainly in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas. About a dozen cases of heinous crimes are registered against Aftab only in Gorakhpur.
