Ghaziabad: Woman, Gym Trainer Arrested for Plotting Husband’s Murder, Stabbing Him at Home

Ghaziabad police have arrested a woman and a gym trainer for allegedly plotting to kill her husband after he discovered their relationship. The victim was stabbed at his Indirapuram residence.

Ghaziabad: Police in Ghaziabad have arrested a woman and a gym trainer for allegedly conspiring to kill her husband after he discovered their alleged relationship. The man, identified as Shashank, was stabbed at his residence in Indirapuram and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to police, both accused were arrested on October 27 following an investigation involving CCTV footage and manual intelligence. A knife allegedly used in the attack has also been recovered.

Relationship Led to Murder Plot

The case came to light on October 26 after the Indirapuram police station received a call through the 112 emergency helpline reporting a knife attack in Sector 1, under the Vasundhara police outpost.

Police reached the location and learnt that Shashank had already been taken to a hospital. His wife, Priya Sharma, and the alleged attacker, Pratap Singh, were subsequently questioned in connection with the incident.

During interrogation, Singh reportedly told investigators that Priya had been attending his gym for around seven to eight months. The two allegedly became close and wanted to marry, police said.

Shashank and Priya both worked as senior accountants at the Postal Accounts Office in Delhi. Police sources said Shashank had discovered the alleged affair and was planning to relocate after Diwali.

Gym Trainer Allegedly Planned Stabbing With Wife

Investigators said the accused allegedly discussed the attack during a morning run on October 25. According to the police account, Singh arrived at Shashank’s flat with a knife the following morning.

Priya allegedly left the door open while leaving the residence in her car, allowing Singh to enter. He then allegedly stabbed Shashank multiple times before fleeing after the injured man raised an alarm.

Police Book Accused Under BNS Provisions

A case was registered at Indirapuram police station following a written complaint by Shashank’s brother, Ritesh. The charges include Sections 109(1), 61(2) and 333 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

ACP Indirapuram Suryabali Maurya confirmed the arrests and recovery of the knife. Further legal proceedings are underway.

Shashank and Priya married in 2021 and have a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
