New Delhi: In this era of digital payments, UPI has made life much easier for people. However, sometimes, when network connectivity is not available, making payments becomes difficult. Now, a feature is available that allows you to easily send money even without the internet.

Works using USSD technology

This unique feature is based on USSD technology rather than the internet. This means that if your phone has a network signal and calling is possible, you can make payments. To do this, simply dial *99# from your mobile. A menu will then open on the screen, from which you can select various options.

How to make payments without internet

The process of making UPI payments without internet is very simple.

  • First, dial *99# from your mobile.
  • Select the 'Send Money' option in the menu that appears.
  • Now, enter your mobile number, UPI ID, or bank account details.
  • The receiver's name will appear on the screen, reducing the chance of error.
  • After this, enter the amount and UPI PIN.
  • Your payment will be completed in few seconds

Extremely useful in areas with low network coverage

This feature is especially beneficial for those living in rural areas or areas with weak network coverage. Furthermore, this feature proves to be very helpful during travel or in emergencies.

Keep these things in mind

While this feature is extremely useful, certain prerequisites must be met to use it. First, your mobile number must be linked to your bank account. Additionally, the UPI service must be active. In some cases, Aadhaar linking may also be required.

Digital Payments Get a New Dimension

This feature of UPI payments without internet is considered a major step towards Digital India. This will not only promote cashless transactions but also facilitate digital payments in remote areas.
