UP: Banda Police busted ATM robbers gang, five arrested

All these accused are members of an inter-district ATM theft gang and have committed crimes in various districts.

Banda: Banda Police has got a big success. Police have busted an inter-district vicious thief gang and arrested its five members. This gang used to commit thefts worth crores by cutting ATM machines. During the arrest, the police have recovered a large amount of illegal weapons, cash, vehicles and tools used in theft from them, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

This success was achieved under the campaign being run on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police when the police received information through an informer that some suspicious persons were planning a major theft in the district.

Taking immediate action on the basis of the information, the police team arrested five people. During interrogation, it was revealed that all these accused are members of an inter-district ATM theft gang and have committed crimes in various districts.

Equipment Recovered

The police have recovered two illegal pistols, seven live cartridges, a four-wheeler, Rs 13,194 in cash and equipment used to cut ATM machines from the arrested accused. The gang members were also planning a robbery in Banda district, but their plan have failed due to the vigilance of the police.

Tampering With ATM Machine

The name of this gang is also associated with the recent ATM robbery in Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur, in which a huge amount of about Rs 1 crore 38 lakh was stolen by tampering with the ATM machine. After that incident, Kanpur police had already arrested three members of the gang. Now with the arrest of the remaining five members of the gang by Banda police, a large part of this network has come to light.

Criminal Cases Registered

Police officials said that criminal cases are registered against the gang in various districts and raids are being conducted to search for their other associates. The police department has considered this success as a major achievement and said that this will curb criminal incidents in the area and will strengthen the sense of security among the public. This quick and effective action of Banda Police is being widely appreciated in the area.

Earlier Case In Delhi

Earlier on 25 March thieves uprooted an ATM of Kotak Mahindra Bank on Maharaja Agrasen Road and took it away. The thieves first tried to withdraw money from the ATM, but when the money did not come out, they stole the entire machine. Seeing the deserted atmosphere near the ATM at the time of the incident, the thieves carried out this entire incident.
