UP harnessing potential of youth to become skilled manpower hub
Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh is steadily progressing toward becoming a global hub for skilled manpower by harnessing the potential of its young population, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday.
The chief minister made these remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Narkataha in the Piprauli block of Gorakhpur. The initiative reflects the state government’s focus on linking skill development with employment opportunities.

“Uttar Pradesh is the country’s youngest state. Our youth are highly talented, and there is growing demand for their skills both nationally and internationally. By aligning training with employment, the state will emerge as a global manpower hub,” Adityanath said.
He noted that nearly 55 to 60 percent of the state’s population falls within the working-age group, calling it the state’s “greatest asset.” The government is committed to leveraging this demographic advantage to create better-paying job opportunities for the youth through industry-focused training.
The chief minister highlighted the role of ongoing industrial initiatives in the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) area. He mentioned that training through institutions like the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) has facilitated campus placements and generated local employment. The newly inaugurated ITI will provide similar industry-linked training to enhance job prospects for young residents of the region.
Over 150 ITIs in Uttar Pradesh are being upgraded in collaboration with Tata Technologies, CM Yogi said. The long-term courses will cover electric vehicles, advanced CNC machines, industrial IoT, robotics, digital manufacturing, and 3D printing. Short-term programs will include EV maintenance, water distribution, automatic welding, and automated manufacturing, aimed at preparing youth for modern industrial demands.

Highlighting international prospects, the chief minister noted that youths sent from Uttar Pradesh to Israel earn between ₹1.25 lakh and ₹1.5 lakh per month, with free lodging and meals. He added that countries like Germany and Japan are also seeking skilled workers from the state, demonstrating the global demand for UP-trained manpower.
With these initiatives, Uttar Pradesh is poised to transform its demographic advantage into a powerful economic asset, creating employment and positioning itself as a global center for skilled professionals.
