Lucknow: UP STF has taken a big action against drug abuse and busted a drug smuggler gang and arrested four smugglers from Raebareli. A huge amount of drugs have been recovered from the smugglers, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
STF Uttar Pradesh was receiving information about the drug smugglers being active for the past several days. In this regard, STF teams were directed to take action.
The STF team was touring in Raebareli district yesterday on Wednesday. During this time, information was received that on the Raebareli Kanpur Highway, vehicles bearing number OD31H4162, OD15S3699 from Odisha state were carrying illegal drugs (ganja) hidden in them and going to Unnao via Prayagraj.
On this information, Inspector Pramod Kumar Verma, along with the Circle Officer, Lalganj, District Raebareli, took necessary action as per the provisions of the NDPS Act and arrested 4 members of the drug smuggling gang, from whom a huge amount of ganja was recovered. About 101 kg of ganja was recovered from the smugglers, whose international value is about Rs 1 crore.
UP STF in action
The arrested accused Kishore Kumar Mehar told during interrogation that he has an organized gang, which buys ganja at low prices from Odisha state and supplies it at high prices in various districts of Uttar Pradesh. He himself is the kingpin of this gang and Tushar, Manas and Kampal are his main associates.
This time he was going to buy ganja from Odisha and give it to someone in Unnao via Prayagraj. Also, he had to give it to a person named Sonu Singh near Fatehpur railway station at the rate of Rs 30,000 per kg. Earlier in the year 2021, he has gone to jail on charges of smuggling ganja from Jabalpur MP.
A case has been registered against the arrested accused under the NDPS Act in Gurubax Ganj police station, Raebareli district.
All the four accused have been arrested and identified.
About 101 kg ganja (international value about Rs one crore).
