An IIT Kanpur-linked startup, ScanX, has developed a portable AI and spectroscopy-based device that can detect pesticides and harmful chemicals in fruits and vegetables within 90 seconds.
New Delhi: Did you know that the fruits and vegetables you eat daily may contain pesticides or harmful chemicals? Now, there's no need to go to the lab to test them. ScanX, a startup affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, has developed a portable device based on AI and spectroscopy technology that can test the quality of food products in just 90 seconds.
This device works without the use of any chemicals and is completely safe. Remarkably, its cost per test is reported to be only 10 to 15 paise, making it easy for ordinary consumers to test their fruits and vegetables.
This technology can also prove beneficial for farmers. Farmers can certify the purity of their produce and receive better prices. Furthermore, this device can play a vital role in ensuring a reliable and safe food supply in the market.
