Patna: As the Bihar assembly elections get closer, political talk has become more heated. BJP MP Sambit Patra accused the Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, of changing his EPIC number and not having his name in the draft electoral roll. Patra claimed that Congress and RJD leaders are spreading a "conspiracy to harm India" by criticizing the Election Commission.
The Election Commission of India and the Patna District Magistrate addressed the issue by showing Tejashwi Yadav's name in the draft electoral roll. They said his name and EPIC number are still present and haven't been removed from the electoral rolls published after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Patra also asked if Tejashwi Yadav had given false information in his affidavit when he ran for the 2020 Assembly elections.
Sources from the Election Commission denied Prasad's claim that his voter ID had been changed. They also said the second voter ID number, RAB2916120, does not exist. More investigation is happening to check the truth about the second EPIC number. The ECI confirmed that Tejashwi's name is listed at number 416 in the draft electoral roll.
